Hospital Picaso and Taylor’s University Forge Partnership to Advance Medical Research

In a landmark collaboration aimed at driving medical innovation and enhancing patient care, Hospital Picaso and the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab of Taylor’s University have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This strategic partnership, formalised at a ceremony attended by distinguished guests and faculty members, marks a significant step forward in the realms of healthcare and academia.

Hospital Picaso, renowned for its commitment to excellence in personalised, patient-centric care, joins forces with Taylor’s University, a leading academic institution with a wealth of research experience. Together, they aim to leverage their respective strengths to pioneer new advancements in medical physics and other critical areas of healthcare.

"At Hospital Picaso, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of medical science," stated Dr Basri Johan Jeet Abdullah, an interventional radiologist at Hospital Picaso, emphasising the hospital's mission to integrate cutting-edge technology with compassionate care. The hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a team of experts focused on advancing healthcare through innovation.

The collaboration with Taylor’s University opens doors to joint research projects that promise to revolutionise medical treatments and improve patient outcomes. Areas of focus include the development of new medical devices and innovative therapies, as well as advancements in oncology and interventional radiology.

"We believe that research is the cornerstone of exceptional healthcare," added Dr Basri, highlighting Hospital Picaso's ongoing research initiatives in breast cancer and novel chemo- or immunotherapies. These efforts underscore the hospital's commitment to enhancing medical understanding and treatment methodologies.

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Taylor's Impact Labs aim to empower communities and address societal challenges through research, education and advocacy.  Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab, one of Taylor’s 11 Impact Labs, aims to enhance healthy quality, affordability and accessibility using innovative approaches and digital technology.

"The Impact Lab fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among academics, practitioners, and students to create a world where enhanced health and wellness is accessible for all," said Professor Dr Chong Pei Pei, Director of the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab, Taylor’s University.   

Under the MOU, both institutions will also collaborate on community service projects and offer valuable internship opportunities to students, providing them with practical experience in a real-world clinical setting.

"This partnership signifies our shared commitment to advancing medical research and improving patient care," concluded Dr Basri. "Together with Taylor’s University, we are poised to make significant strides in healthcare innovation and set new standards of excellence."

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by academic staff and research fellows from Taylor’s University, and medical specialists from multiple disciplines in Hospital Picaso, underscoring the significance of this collaboration in shaping the future of healthcare.
