Hospital Picaso has signed a memorandum of understanding with Roche in driving change in the Breast Cancer landscape to have the first digital breast cancer registry on 19th August 2024. 

Officiated by Consultant Breast Surgeon Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Yip Cheng Har, she has shared that having a database to keep track of patients' outcomes is critical to identify the gaps and opportunities which would eventually help the physicians to make better care decisions for patients. 

“This has been the idea and vision of us in making Picaso as one of the Centres of Excellence for breast cancer and women’s health that is evidence-based for long-term reported outcome”, highlighted Dr Ng Char Hong, Hospital Picaso’s Consultant Breast & Breast Reconstructive Surgeon.

Additionally, Hospital Picaso’s Consultant Clinical Oncologist Dr Mastura Md Yusof has added that this database would help the hospital to understand the quality of care that patients are receiving while also displaying the breast cancer trends for the advancement of science in the future. 

Co-hosted with Roche Malaysia, the event also featured Deepti Saraf, GM of Roche Malaysia, sharing her excitement about the registry being powered by Clarum. She looks forward to the positive impact this will have on breast cancer patients' quality of care. Dr Otan Akin, Roche’s Medical Director, further elaborated on Roche’s commitment as a global leading biotech company with high level R&D investment, focusing on innovative solutions across diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and digital health. Additionally, Peter from Roche IT provided an overview of Clarum's functionality and success stories.

Roche and Hospital Picaso are looking forward to this meaningful and first-in-class partnership to shape a better future for breast cancer patients, driven by Shereen Hew, the patient journey partner who has been collaborating with the breast fraternity across Malaysia.
